The Curious Origin of La Palmeraie
Local legend has it that the armies of Sultan Youssef Ben Tachfine, the founder of Marrakech, camped in the area, and the palm trees grew from the seeds of the dates the soldiers ate and threw around. La Palmeraie covers an area of 54 square miles and is home to more than 100,000 palm trees. The world in itself, just a few minutes away from the city!
