RIZE

Rize City is situated on the eastern Black Sea Coast of Turkey. ριζα (Riza) or Ριζαίον (Rizaion) are the Greek names used to call the city in the ancient times which means “mountain slopes”. Due to its unique geographical position vis-à-vis the Black Sea and the Pontic mountains, the city enjoys an extremely wet climate. Thanks to this regional climate, the countryside is highly rich in terms of vegetation. The city is famous with its highlands, among which Ayder, Avusor, Kavrun and Samistal highlands take the lead.
